Dens deck provides an excellent substrate for all types of conventional low slope roofing membranes particularly in fully adhered assemblies. It provides exceptional bond and low absorption in adhered systems and offers sustainable design for all types of roofing systems including single ply fluid applied built up spray foam metal and modified bitumen roofing. The cover board also serves as a substrate for a vapor retarder in this application.

5 8 thickness meets the requirements of type x per astm c 1177. The material is durable and provides superior impact and puncture resistance. The boards are manufactured in standard sizes of 4 feet by 8 feet and an average thickness of 3 8 inch. Codes exempt foam plastic insulation when used in fm 4450 or ul 1256.

In this application the cover board provides a fire barrier in the case of an internal fire. Densdeck roof boards are fm tested and approved as the only 1 2 gypsum product to meet the calorimeter requirements for conventionally insulated decks. Flame spread index of 75 and smoke development 450 meet code requirements for foam plastic roof insulation. Fm class 1 for fire barrier requirements and ul class a unlimited slope with excellent surface burning characteristics.

Tested in accordance with astm e84 its surface burning characteristics are flame spread 0 and smoke developed 0. This significantly increases the time required to melt the insulation which adds fuel to the flames.
