Replacing Damaged Vinyl Siding

Use zip tool to. 15 minute vinyl siding repair with a zip tool starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel. If the whole piece of siding isn t damaged the damaged section can be cut away using a utility knife and speed square. Pull siding away from house and cut through the bottom edge with aviation snips.

Cut piece of faded siding from an inconspicuous spot to replace the damaged section. Nail the siding loosely to allow for expansion and contraction. Pull the nails holding the damaged siding and remove the damaged piece. Repeat the procedure for the top of the damaged siding.

Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it. Use framing square and utility knife to cut through face of siding. Use a flat pry bar to remove the nails and the damaged section of siding. Cut the siding using a utility knife with a new blade.

Purchase a suitable caulk. Start at the bottom of the piece that is being replaced and insert a wooden shim between the pieces of siding as the zip tool slides along the siding. Patching a small dent crack or hole. It ll better match the house.

Cut a replacement panel that is 4 inches longer than the damaged section. Cut the patch long. Exterior caulk that is intended for vinyl. Making minor corrections with caulk.

Cut a 2 in 5 1 cm wide perimeter around the damage. Push the new piece into the nailing strip of the course below. Apply caulk apply generous beads of butyl or gutter caulk on the adjacent siding about 1 2 inch from the edges of the cutout area.
