Removing Tile On Plaster Walls

Rub your plaster walls for days with a wet sponge and nothing happens except for you getting blisters and sore muscles. Removing tile from bathroom walls can be a labor intensive messy process and the work is not over once the tile has been removed. Cut away the grout surrounding the tile or tiles that you want to remove. You need to use the proper tools and work at a slow pace.

Then use a utility knife or rotary grinder to scrape away the grout until the spacer lugs between the tiles are visible. You should be able to slide a putty or plaster knife underneath the tile. Remove the tile and prepare the wall according to the corresponding instructions above or tile over the existing tile. Work your way along the entire wall until it is.

Stay tuned for the install next. If existing tiles are beyond repair remove the tile and install a piece of wallboard in its place. I am not a professional as you can see but i have painted these pink tiles and happy to be rid of them. Plaster is waterproof and it bonds tenaciously to just about anything.

In order to remove the tile and cause little to no damage to your plaster put down the sledgehammer. To do so make sure all of the tiles are intact and secure. Be careful to cut away only the grout and not into the wall. To remove wall tiles start by heating up the grout between the tiles with a blow dryer so it s easier to remove.
