Do not use coarse steel wool as it will damage the aluminum surface. Mix the ammonia cleaner and the water into a bucket and use the solution to clean your galvanized steel. Repeat as needed until the water stains have been removed completely. Apply a light coat of paste wax or metal polish to the rinsed and dried surface to help protect the metallic finish.

Clr a widely available household cleaning product can also be used to clean galvanized metal. Take a pot that you can dispose of and fill it halfway with water. Unfortuantely there is no easy way to remove the water. Then dry well with a towel.

If water is already in contact with the metal remove it.
