A how to on how i was able to remove some 6 year old blue masking tape from an aluminum and glass boat windshield.
Remove old blue painters tape from aluminum siding.
Wet the cloth and rub it over the dried out tape.
Dampen the painter s tape.
Tape on aluminum siding requires a solvent like goo gone to take off the glue.
Try plastic putty knives but do not get them too hot or they soften.
Hopefully this will loosen the tape and allow you to peel back the sticky mess and pull it away from the wall.
Taking your time lift up the painter s tape and pull it back on itself removing at a 45 degree angle.
When the blue tape was finally removed it took the paint off of the aluminum siding that s around the windows on the back and side of the house and on our shop.
The water should soften the glue but it may leave behind a sticky residue.
The fumes were really strong especially in the rooms across the back of my house.
If adhesive sticks to the surface try a 90 degree angle.
Once you have completed the paint job remember to remove the tape.

For surfaces such as acrylic plaster asphalt copper enamel glass linoleum marble pewter plexiglass and all things vinyl all you need is warm sudsy water.
Allow the water to soak in for a few minutes then carefully peel back the tape.

The warm water will soften the tape so it can be removed with a sponge or cloth.
Re moisturizing the surface should help soften the glue and loosen the paper tape.
